Position Overview:

This role will assist and manage a portfolio of commercial real estate credits/relationships in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Candidates should have sound knowledge of credit policy and commercial real estate finance to make recommendations in accordance with bank policies and procedures. Candidates should be able to manage certain transactions with little guidance and contribute to more complex transactions with guidance from senior staff. The ideal candidate is initiative-taking, has strong analytical and writing skills, and can multi-task across job functions, various client needs and competing bank priorities.  This position is located in Rosemont and is currently 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.

What you will be doing:


  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of credit relationships – including gathering, analyzing and underwriting all business and personal financial data collected for the purpose of issuing, extending, amending, reviewing, monitoring and testing a commercial credit facility. The candidate is expected to liaise between all parties to ensure timely and efficient analysis that meets the expectations of the Borrowers, Lenders and Administration Team.


  • Proactively manage annual portfolio review process, covenant testing, quarterly construction, and exception/covenant reporting by obtaining updated financials and working closely with analysts in the Northwest Underwriting Hub.


  • Work with analysts to ensure proper Moody’s reporting and accuracy of new covenants/tracking requirements.


  • Create comprehensive, detailed, and thoughtful opportunity memos and full credit approvals for new business clients, including client and sponsors’ background, history, market experience and global real estate portfolio.


  • Provide accurate financial analysis, profitability, and risk assessment to make lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans for the following asset types: multifamily, office, medical office, industrial, retail, and self-storage.


  • Manage workflow of other analysts by aligning tasks with departmental goals and objectives.


  • Oversee documentation and ongoing monitoring of asset and client performance.


  • Work with relationship managers and loan administration to facilitate loan closings, modifications, and renewals. Work with external and internal business partners on review of deal related legal documents.


  • Review credit approval memorandums and attorney-prepared loan documents for new and renewed loans to ensure compliance and adherence to the loan approval guidelines.


  • Develop a working knowledge of credit/loan policy for credit requests and exceptions.


  • Interact with lending staff, deal teams and clients in a welcoming and professional manner.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree


  • 3-7 years of relevant experience involving Commercial Real Estate credit, underwriting and negotiating experience.


  • Formal Credit Training required


  • Knowledge of WHC or similar bank policies and procedures preferred.


  • Must be comfortable asking questions, seeking advice, requesting help, and articulating concerns to bank senior management, legal counsel, and others in a timely manner.


  • Knowledge of current market, geography, and economic conditions.


  • Understanding of industry and clients and their impact on credit.


  • Active member participation in local community or industry organization.
