Location: This is a fully remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office)

About the Team



The Higher Ed and BigFuture Reporting and Analytics team is a small team of six with big impact, responsible for delivering insights to their colleagues across Higher Ed and BigFuture product, program, sales, and marketing functions. They are relied upon to drive clear visibility on student and higher ed engagement, highlighting areas of strength and opportunity, and building resources that power new insights that can be leveraged across teams. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will deliver insights, resources, and infrastructure to support program and product strategy, insights, outcomes, and innovation.



About the Opportunity



As the Associate Director, BigFuture Analytics, you will be focused on driving student engagement in our college planning and connection ecosystem, using data to (1) evaluate the team's progress towards key results, (2) help activate program, product, marketing, and field staff on the areas of greatest opportunity. You will develop forecasts on key program and product metrics, manage and extend key tracking and outcome dashboards, and deliver actionable insights that help team members better engage students in key college-going activities on BigFuture.org, BigFuture School and related offerings.


You will bring your passion for data, your analytical and problem solving skills, and your collaborative energy to drive action in service of our goals of connecting more students with postsecondary success and scholarships, particularly for under-served student populations.


In this role, you will:



Deliver, enhance and extend reports and analytics (60%)





  • Develop and own key program and product data reporting packages, dashboards, and narrative updates on student participation to serve business, product, marketing, business, and field teams. Ensure that all stakeholders, including leadership, have clear visibility into progress against key metrics, including critical trend, YOY, and business cycle benchmarks and context.


  • Analyze data to identify promising opportunities for improving student engagement. Develop insights on student behavior by segment, seeking to understand which students take which college-going actions across different channels.


  • Generate projections to inform goal setting and financial forecasts.





Build and maintain tools and resources for internal teams (40%)





  • Build interactive dashboards and related tools to provide teams with the access to data and insights they need to drive improved outcomes. Be an evangelist who equips the larger team to self-serve findings and analysis.


  • Partner with IT to ensure internal systems allow for robust analytics and reporting.



  • Partner across cross-functional teams toshape and deliver on data requests that support their work. Synthesize and explain findings so that colleagues and leadership understand what is happening and what to do.


  • Contribute to strategic initiatives to meet the needs of both students and higher ed, which may include external benchmarking and analyses, or proposing new ways to leverage our wealth of data to deliver insights about and for students during the college-going process.





About You



You have:




  • A Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience


  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, including ability to analyze large and complex datasets (proficiency in Excel, SQL and programming language such as R, Stata, or SAS); experience and facility with data dashboard and visualization tools


  • Strong ability to communicate complex quantitative insights simply, via writing, visualization and verbal summary and presentation (Preferred experience with data visualization software:


  • Proven capability to structure and solve analytical problems, starting with the big picture, identifying the needs and questions, and designing effective reports and insights


  • An entrepreneurial mindset that allows you to identify the best way to get impactful work done in a matrixed organization


  • Energy for and commitment to iteratively and continuously improve reporting by deeply understanding and partnering with stakeholders (data-savvy and not)


  • Flexibility, curiosity, and initiative to tackle problems: you delight in digging deep into data to uncover new insights about students


  • Willingness and ability travel 3-5 times a year to team meetings and/or conferences


  • You must be authorized to work in the US

The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $56,000-100,000.College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary.
