As an Substation Electrical Engineer in Training, you will learn the basics of BIM and Revit and AutoCAD aided drafting and electrical design. This position will gain an understanding of the applicable codes and regulations that govern our industry and how to apply calculations required for determining a wide range of engineering solutions. An Electrical EIT will apply this knowledge in the design of electrical power substations and distribution lines. This position will learn how to read and understand one-line diagrams, relaying diagrams, control schematics, structural plans and elevations, grounding plans, site plans and produce construction specifications and contract documents.

Qualifications* you will bring to the table:

  • Bachelors degree or higher education in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • 0 - 3 years of job-related experience
  • Sitting for the FE or a Current EIT certification
  • Basic knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Office
  • Competent mathematical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

As a Team Member at Cushing Terrell, you will*

  • Under the supervision of an experienced engineer apply basic design criteria, prepare, and change drawings.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the National Electrical Safety Code sections for Grounding, Electrical Supply Stations and Overhead and Underground Distribution Lines.
  • Develop competence in the application of the National Electrical Code with a basic understanding of wire sizing, conduit types and sizing, grounding, clearance requirements, etc.
  • Develop understanding of one-line diagrams, metering and relaying diagrams, control schematics, grounding plans, physical plans and elevations, and construction specifications.

*The majority of the time a person in this role will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements. This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist, and reach. On occasion, individuals will be required to visit a client site to perform site verifications and field surveys.

Your pay

The salary for this position is based on the location/s posted. If you are a candidate living outside of (this region/these regions), we still encourage you to apply as salary ranges may differ across states/cities/job markets.

  • Expected Range*: $60,000 to $72,000 based on Billings, MT
  • The position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus

*The actual salary offered for the role will be determined based on a variety of factors including but not limited to; years of experience, licensure status, location, level of job-related knowledge, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law).
