Job Overview

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Cincinnati (UC) is searching for a full-time academic Neuropathologist/Surgical Pathologist to participate in neuropathology and surgical pathology subspecialty services that align with the candidate's interests. Autopsy, cytopathology, and molecular pathology service options are also available. Fellowship training or experience in neuropathology is required. In addition to clinical service and resident/fellow teaching, the position offers excellent opportunities for participation in collaborative research. The successful candidate will join a highly collegial faculty group including two other neuropathologists. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience. Essential Functions

  • Participation in neuropathology and surgical pathology case review and interpretation, with preparation of diagnostic pathology reports.

  • Provision of consultations to other types of physicians regarding diagnoses and medical implications.

  • Participation in on-call coverage.

  • Participation in multidisciplinary conferences aligned with clinical service responsibilities.

  • Teaches pathology residents, medical students, and fellows.

  • Attends sectional/divisional/departmental meetings and educational events.

  • Performs related duties based on departmental need.


Minimum Requirements

Must have all of the following prior to effective date of appointment:


  • Medical degree (MD or DO or equivalent degree).

  • Completion of either a) a 3-year residency in anatomic pathology in an ACGME-accredited residency training program; or b) a 4-year residency in anatomic and clinical pathology in an ACGME-accredited residency training program.

  • Completion of a 1-year fellowship in neuropathology.

  • Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board.
