Highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates are invited to lead projects in the Watkins research laboratory. The Post Doctoral Scholar will bring his or her skills, knowledge, and experience into a highly collaborative research environment focused on polymer synthesis and macromolecular assembly with an emphasis on polymer characterization. The Post Doctoral Scholar will be required to maintain, troubleshoot, and service instrumentation associated with polymer research. Additionally, the Post Doctoral Scholar will plan and perform experiments, analyze and interpret data, communicate results, and prepare manuscripts for publication. Functioning somewhat independently, the Post Doctoral Scholar will assume general responsibility for the scientific operations of the laboratory; provide supervision and guidance to junior technicians, students, and researchers.
Requirement:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field. Expertise in polymer synthesis and characterization is essential. Background experience in radical polymerization and mechanical testing is preferred. Applicants should also have experience in the use of spectroscopic methods, including NMR, FTIR, and UV-vis-NIR absorbance, as well as materials characterization (e.g., TGA, DSC rheology).
