Overview / Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Clinical Coordinator within the Nursing programs is to provide hands-on instruction to students. This position oversees the clinical components of both the Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse program, including clinical faculty orientation and training, scheduling of clinical sites and staff assignments, staff supervision at the clinical sites, and development of necessary policies and procedures for clinical education. Evaluation of student progress and assessment of skills are also key components of the position. This position carries a decreased teaching workload consisting of instructional activities up to 3 credit hours per semester, if needed.


Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
 
    Maintains effective relationships with local health care facilities, professional organizations, and clinical personnel to promote positive learning experiences for students. Communicates with clinical site representatives and serves as liaison between clinical sites and WSU Tech.Monitors and updates all clinical agreements, ensuring they are updated yearly and as needed.Provides organized, structured, and sequenced instruction for the program in lab and clinical settings.Practices, teaches, and incorporates accepted and mandated safety procedures into the curriculum.Assists College administrators in the establishment of positive public relations with trade associations, industry, parents, students, and the community. Supervises instructors in the clinical setting with routine on-site visits, providing coaching and direction as indicated.
This role collaborates with the Director of Simulation Education Nursing, aiding faculty in implementing simulation scenarios and overseeing skills lab maintenance, faculty training, and equipment supply. Additionally, it involves reviewing course materials, contributing to program budgeting, maintaining a bias-free learning environment, providing ongoing staff development, managing administrative communication, ensuring timely grading, scheduling clinical rotations, overseeing committee responsibilities, and actively engaging in program evaluations and student recruitment activities.



Education:
    BSN or BS, if granted prior to July 2001, required. MSN, preferred

Required/Preferred Experience & Skills:
    Possess current licensure/certification/registration as required by profession.Has and maintains a current Kansas RN license throughout employment. Two years current occupational experience. Has and maintains current American Heart Association CPR instructor certification.Ability to effectively organize and direct personnel during crisis or emergency situations. Demonstrate ability and knowledge to provide team leadership for planning. Obtains at own expense yearly TB test and other immunizations or physical examinations as required by clinical sites.



Additional Requirements:
    Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook applications. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to accurately and quickly process, enter and audit data.Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
