Olympic College is seeking to hire a part-time Instructional Classroom Support Tech 1. Olympic College is a public two-year community college accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities that educates more than 13,000 students a year. This position will provide in person and virtual testing and clerical services for the OC Bremerton & Shelton Campus Assessment & Testing Centers. Duties include maintaining certification to act as a Test Administrator/Proctor for outside Testing Corporations, such as PearsonVUE and CollegeBoard, preparing test materials; assisting students setting test appointments; proctoring student testing sessions for Accuplacer, PearsonVUE, Olympic College and outside institutions. Work requires knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. This role proctors and administers in person and virtual ACCUPLACER tests to students in a controlled environment. Proctors ensure proper test security before, during, and after test administrations. Proctors safeguard against improper test taking and cheating. Testing Personnel play a significant in the student onboarding process and are committed to boosting this importance within the profession by requiring all testing personnel to be certified. The ACCUPLACER© Certificate of Test Administration (ACTA) assessment promotes and supports best practices related to test security while increasing security for the ACCUPLACER program.

Essential Functions



Proctor campus-based and standardized exams, in person and virtually



Tasks include:


  • Check in, proctor, and check out testing candidates for various testing sessions according to the established procedures of each testing corporation and the specific exam sponsor or testing service.

  • Administer or proctor testing for students approved for accommodations in testing.

  • Monitor testing sessions in multiple testing rooms, both in person and by video surveillance; including remote proctoring via video/chat conferencing service.

  • Be available to travel as assigned to proctor at off-campus testing sessions at OC Main Campus, branch campuses and local high schools.

  • Respond to student issues, inquiries, and testing irregularities during test administration.

  • Keep up to date with standardized proctoring requirements

  • Re-certify as needed This position requires punctual and regular attendance.

  • Access and maintain multiple testing schedule calendars in setting students' appointments and preparing for upcoming events.

  • Prepare test materials for use by students and testing candidates from Olympic College, other institutions and from the community; confer with instructors in receiving test materials and instructions.

  • Maintain clean and safe Testing Center environment. This includes daily reorganization of the room and coordinating proper cleaning requirements with the cleaning service.

  • Ensure security of all testing materials, candidate identification and information as required by exam sponsor or testing service.

  • Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation when working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Document all testing and contacts numbers for monthly reports.

  • Demonstrate ability to provide safe and welcoming environment for testing candidates.

  • Deliver information with sensitivity and work through difficult issues in a positive manner.

  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and manage multiple overlapping timed testing sessions.

  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned. Maintain email and telephone correspondence in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Monitoring Teams (or other established channel) for internal communications during testing session; being ready to respond to requests as needed

  • Monitor college email for session assignments, candidate rosters and any other updates

  • Provide information regarding programs, policies, services and activities to students, staff, faculty, and members of the community

  • Instruct incoming candidates on assessment and testing procedures, Assessment & Testing Center procedures for identification, storage of personal items, testing instructions and to enforce Time Limits.

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, staff and administrators.

  • Provides high quality customer service, reception, and accurate intake for all visitors.

  • Function as a team player.

  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

    Minimum QualificationHigh school diploma or equivalent
    Desired QualificationsIntermediate computer experience, proficient in MS Office.

    Terms of EmploymentThis is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week. Hours worked are limited to 79 hours per month or 450 hours in a 6-month period. Flexibility in scheduling is needed to meet the demands of the department. The salary for this position is $17.11 per hour. Part-time positions at the college are open continuous and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
