Job Summary:
Responsible for the oversight and management of the Cardiovascular Services Department; works with patients from adolescent to geriatric. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities: Develops and manages the annual operating and capital budget; directs daily operations of assigned departments; directs performance of staff; has ability to hire, fire and discipline, as well as:
General Management:
Establishes goals and objectives that support overall strategic plans of the facility/Health System
Develops and manages the annual department operating and capital budgets
Directs daily operations of assigned department/s
Maintains objectivity in decision making, utilizing facts to support decisions
Supports the mission statement, policies and procedures of the Health System
Manages to eliminate boundaries to achieve integrated, efficient and quality service
Achieves ongoing compliance with all regulatory agencies
Serves as a resource to employees and customers as demonstrated by visibility and knowledge of issues
Demonstrates flexibility in response to change
Communicates effectively with all levels in the organization and with inter/external customers.
Department/Business Unit Management:
Completes schedules to insure an appropriate level of staffing
Functions as staff person as necessary
Maintains appropriate supply levels by maintaining low inventory costs
Maintains accurate records of all procedures performed
Coordinates with other hospital departments
Develops and maintains excellent physician/staff professional relationships
Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
Participates in Performance Improvement activities
People Management:
Selects personnel for hire and promotion; takes appropriate actions regarding counseling, disciplinary actions, demotion and termination
Directs, supports and coaches direct reports
Responds proactively to employee needs and concerns
Develops "experts" and "expertise" throughout the department and seeks employee input
Facilitates consensus among divergent groups
Minimizes staff turnover
Acknowledges and rewards employees' strengths and accomplishments
Evaluates assigned staff performance and competency, providing direct feedback
Assesses learning needs, develops competency plans and provides opportunities for learning
Education, Certification, & Experience:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing and/or accredited school of radiology and/or accredited school of cardiovascular technology. Preferred: Bachelors degree preferred
Required: 5 years experience in cardiovascular services. 2 years management experience in related field
Possess a current Texas State License or AART, ACVT or RCIS
BLS
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
