GENERAL DESCRIPTION


Under the Dean of Students' supervision, the Residence Hall Director is a live-in position that serves mainly as a professional staff member responsible for the day-to-day management of an assigned on-campus residence hall. The Residence Hall Director leads a student team of twelve (12) resident assistants in fostering a campus environment that cultivates student learning through developing innovative and inclusive co-curricular programming in a safe, comfortable physical environment in which students can pursue academic endeavors and achieve personal growth within the boundaries of community standards and respect for others.


In addition to an annual salary of $36,000.00, the successful candidate will receive a residential apartment in the assigned residence hall furnished with appliances (stove, refrigerator, and access to free laundry facilities) and private entrance, and full college meal plan.


All applicants must be able to relocate to the Beebe campus and occupy the assigned residence hall for the full length of the appointment. The successful candidate will work for ASU-Beebe and be granted time for graduate course work, class attendance or other part-time employment. A background check will be completed on the successful candidate.





ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Supervise twelve (12) student resident assistants, including coordinating duty schedules, reviewing duty logs, and providing guidance and support to staff and student leaders regarding curriculum implementation.

  2. Serve as the primary professional staff member (i.e. coordinate room assignments, maintenance requests, etc.) of an on-campus community with an occupancy capacity of 248 beds.

  3. Enforce hall regulations, maintain standards of community behavior, and as needed, confront individuals or groups violating community, College, or residence hall rules and regulations, and document incidents as necessary.

  4. Serve in a campus-wide on-call duty rotation throughout the academic year (i.e., two to four nights, weekends, schedule college breaks, etc.), in addition to maintaining office hours, staff meetings, 1:1 meetings, etc.).

  5. Assist with resident assistant training, move-in, check-out, college recruitment days, weekly staff meetings, etc.

  6. Lead student resident assistants in developing a community and life-long learning through implementing programming that supports the Office of Student Life' co-curricular learning outcomes.

  7. Support the goals of the college's mission, vision, and strategic plan, as well as other duties assigned by the Dean of Students or Vice-Chancellor for Student Services.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience resulting in broad knowledge of a field related to the job, such as facilities or team management.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference given to applicants with prior experience is a resident or graduate assistant and are interested in developing a career in University Housing, Student Affairs, Counseling or a related field.
