SECTION: Department of Corrections/Facility/Administrative Services



HIRING SALARY: $45,000.00 annually



HOURS: 40 hours per week

  • Southwest Florida Reception Center (SFRC) - Doral, FL






MAJOR FUNCTION: The Pre-Release Employment Navigator is a grant funded position housed within Department of Corrections. The Pre-Release Employment Navigator (PREN) positions may cover more than one institution based on workload and proximity. The PREN services will occur through cell-front and/or in congregate settings.




Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:




  • In-person and virtual facilitation of workshops and training relative to employability and life skills.




  • Administration and interpretation of assessments.




  • Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered.




  • Facilitation of pre-release connections with community providers and employers through face-to-face and technology-based interactions to include pre-release job search, recruitment, and connections to post-release training and employment.






MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: a) An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional experience in the workforce development, social services, corrections or related field.




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of administrative principles and practices; knowledge of office procedures and practices; knowledge of methods of data collection; knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication; proficient computer skills in Excel and Microsoft Word software; proficient in specking effectively to small groups; ability to work independently with limited supervision; ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and complete work assignments with accuracy; ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with others; ability to work in a secured prison setting; ability to work with inmates; ability work within the vicinity of officials that carry guns; and ability to work with users of varying technical expertise.
