Basic Job Functions:



The Material Handling Shift Supervisor is responsible for hiring and developing a new Material Handling Team while implementing Operational and Commercial Excellence. This position will support our goal to take care of our customers by continually improving safety, environmental efforts, quality, costs, productivity and profitability. Job duties include but are not limited to: Cultivate an atmosphere aligned with Nucor Culture that promotes ownership and drives continuous improvement. Candidate must be able to prioritize personal and team development, along with the demands of the production schedule and monthly shipping goals. Establish expectations and identify best practices that achieve results through empowering the team. Help develop strategic plan for Material Handling that includes procuring supplies and justification of capital expenditures.


Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.




Minimum Qualifications:



Minimum 3 years experience in leading teams.


Minimum 3 years experience in logistics.


Minimum 3 years experience in the metals industry.


Willing to work a rotating shift schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.




Preferred Qualifications:



Prior experience in all three shipping modes: rail, truck and barge.
Experience shipping plate material.
Start-up experience.
Track record of continual growth and development.
