Work Location




  • There are currently two open positions - one in Logan Township and one in Delran.




Primary Role



The Production Mechanic may be assigned to perform any responsibilities that lie within the capability of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training.




Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




  • The Production Mechanic must possess a working knowledge of water treatment operations including, but not limited to, instruments, hydraulic, chemical, mechanical and electrical equipment, and processes as well operational laboratory procedures.
  • The individual must possess an understanding of the distribution system network including, not limited to, gradients, capacities, interconnections, mapping, service territory, and facility locations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the water and wastewater facilities and related appurtenances.
  • The individual must possess a working knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and safety practices as well as State and Federal rules and regulations applicable to their area of responsibility.
  • The Production Mechanic must be capable of operating equipment and vehicles necessary for the completion of assignments and maintain a valid motor vehicle CDL license with Hazardous Material, tanker, and air brake endorsements.
  • The individual must successfully obtain and maintain 40-Hour Hazwoper certification with associated annual physicals including respirator medical evaluations, and must be able to perform the essential functions and meet the physical requirements for a Production Mechanic I-IV.




Scope of Responsibilities



Production Mechanic responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform and/or assist the replacement of, repairs to, and the preventative maintenance of and calibration and modification to, equipment and facilities, such as, but not limited to, centrifugal and positive displacement machinery, transducers, recorders, data collection devices, diesel engines, generators, chemical feed and storage equipment, analytical measuring devices, electrical distribution and equipment, piping systems, process control equipment, residual process equipment, telemetry equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Operates water and wastewater facilities and related appurtenances including, but not limited to, chemical feed equipment, water treatment equipment, valves, hydrants, pumps, standby generation, and residual processing equipment to ensure the safe, reliable production and delivery of the highest quality water.
  • Review, monitor, and adjust hydraulic and chemical processes to achieve and maintain established water quality standards and system requirements.
  • Prioritize and coordinate tasks and/or activities required for the efficient and reliable operation of water treatment facilities and related appurtenances.
  • Receive, deliver, and handle chemicals and materials in accord with established Company, State and/or Federal safety standards and/or practices.
  • Maintain the appearance of water and wastewater facilities and grounds in accord with Company standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate facility and system data, records, and reports. Utilize Company systems, software, programs, and devices as necessary to perform assigned duties.
  • Conduct process and regulatory sampling as directed, in accordance with Company procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Perform water treatment tests and evaluate water samples as directed, to ensure process water quality is within established parameters and, if necessary, adjust treatment processes to ensure the integrity of the water supply.
  • Perform and/or assist with repairs to, and maintenance of, equipment and facilities such as, but not limited to, chemical pump cleaning, piping repairs and modifications, cleaning and painting of equipment and structures, machinery lubrication, pump adjustments, equipment analysis and data collection, vibration, temperature and electrical readings, and analytical water testing equipment.
  • Serve as an active TCPA Extremely Hazardous Substance responder in the Company's TCPA Emergency Response Plan.
  • Respond to inquiries accurately and professionally, and, when necessary, involve the appropriate individual(s) to resolve customer and Company related issues and to achieve the highest level of customer service in all areas of assigned responsibilities.
  • Work rotating and/or fixed shifts including, but not limited to, weekends and holidays.
  • Production Mechanics may be assigned to the Shift Mechanic and System Operator positions.
  • Comply with all training initiatives and directives.
  • Actively monitor, review, acknowledge and respond to (as applicable) all Company communications delivered via methos including, but not limited to, Company intranet, emails, phone calls, text messages, Microsoft Teams messages, and/or handwritten or printed notes, memos, or reports.




Entrance/Progression/Qualification Requirements



The individual will be required to meet the entrance, progression, and qualification requirements as developed by the Company. These include:
  • Production Mechanic I
    • Possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
    • Obtain a CDL license with Hazardous Material, tanker, and air brake endorsements within the qualification period.
    • Successfully pass entrance, progression, and qualification examinations.
    • Successfully complete prescribed NJAW position specific training programs.
    • Obtain Hazwoper certification and successfully pass a respirator medical evaluation within the qualification period.
    • Possess NJDEP T1 License.
  • Production Mechanic II
    • Maintain requirements of a Production Mechanic I
    • 2 years' experience as a Production Mechanic I
    • Successfully pass entrance, progression, and qualification examinations.
    • Successfully complete prescribed NJAW position specific training programs.
    • Possess NJDEP T2 License.
  • Production Mechanic Ill
    • Maintain requirements of a Production Mechanic II.
    • 4 years' experience as a Production Mechanic II.
    • Successfully pass entrance, progression, and qualification examinations.
    • Successfully complete prescribed NJAW position specific training programs.
  • Production Mechanic IV
    • Maintain requirements of a Production Mechanic Ill.
    • 3 years' experience as a Production Mechanic Ill.
    • Successfully pass entrance, progression, and qualification examinations.
    • Successfully complete prescribed NJAW position specific training programs.
    • Possess NJDEP T3 License.


Failure to achieve the skill and ability required and/or failure to complete prescribed NJAWC position specific training programs and/or maintain position specific requirements will result in the individual's loss of position level.
