Location: Cobb - Siloam Springs Hatchery



Schedule: Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule. Shift Schedule: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, including holidays, beginning at 6:00 a.m. until job is complete. Typically, this position will average 48 hours a week. Hours are subject to change depending on Production needs.



  • Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred. Applicant must have at least six consecutive months of work experience with the same employer and no additional gaps in employment greater than six months with the last 36 months. If applicant was laid-off, providing eldercare or childcare, the six month gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history criteria will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.

  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.


Starting Wage: $17.00




Plus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

Position Summary:



This position is responsible for inspection of the chicks in the hatcher to ascertain quality and fitness for processing. Chicks will be monitored in the hatcher baskets to help determine pull times and/or hatcher adjustments. The initial check starts around 6:00AM and constitutes removing hatch buggies, momentarily, out of the hatcher, counting hatched chicks from a designated hatch basket, taking rectal temperatures, and determining through calculations any hatcher adjustments necessary. Additional checks are required every two hours, utilizing other monitoring methods. Other responsibilities include performing required quality assurance (QA) checks in other areas of the hatchery.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Experience: Demonstrated previous experience in a lead/supervisory role and/or a minimum of 6 months in related field.

  • Ability to pass a pulmonary function and respirator fit test.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Pre-pull assessment (50%)

  • Quality Assurance checks (25%)

  • Assist maintenance, fill in other areas of the hatchery, e.g. processing, EMBREX, sanitation (25%)


Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:



The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering on-site and changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No external jewelry may be worn on the jobsite excluding medical ID bracelets and necklaces. Only body piercings covered by an on-farm clothing are permitted. Must be willing to sign an agreement to not own and avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.



Physical Demands and Work Environment:



  • Physical: Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs. and must be able to push/pull 1000-1500 lbs. (on wheels). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Respirator, Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals. Ear plugs will be used as needed.



  • Chemicals Commonly Used: Formaldehyde is in use at the facility, disinfectant, lubricants and virocid (Synergize).

  • Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.

  • Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment. Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks
