The University of Georgia Office of Service-Learning (OSL) seeks motivated applicants interested in addressing food insecurity in the community as an AmeriCorps Community Food Fellow. The AmeriCorps State program is a federally-funded national service program which allows U.S. citizens to serve their country at home, meet a critical community need, and gain professional experience. Community Food Fellows will be recruited to address food issues in collaboration with on- and off-campus partner organizations and provide direct support for food security and production, anti-hunger, and food waste reduction initiatives.
This posting is for a half-time member serving for a year starting in (August 01, 2024- July 31, 2025). Community Food Fellows serve for a year as half-time AmeriCorps Service Members as part of a group of up to 20 Fellows. Members will log a total of 900 hours, averaging 20 hours/week, depending on the start date.
High school diploma or equivalent. Should be a U.S. citizen with proof of citizenship. Interest in food issues and experience serving as a volunteer or leading a service experience is preferred. Applications from UGA undergraduate and graduate students, as well as external applicants are encouraged.
Interest in issues of food insecurity, production, and sustainability and commitment to benefiting the local community.Represent UGA effectively to on- and off-campus partners.Work collaboratively as part of a team.
