Associate Director of Product Management, Personalization Platform at Best Buy

Job Description:

As an Associate Director of Product Management, you will be building and leading empowered teams that partner with key internal teams, engage in customer research, execute data-driven prioritization to design, build, and launch initiatives driving supporting both customer needs and business objectives and key results. This leadership position will tap into your talents from incubating new products to investing in existing products. You will join the Personalization Services team to lead high performing teams of Product Managers serving DAT’s Customer Relationship, Engagement and Technology organization.

In the Customer Relationship and Engagement Technology (CRET) team, we inspire and lead the creation of meaningful interactions to deepen customer relationships, with personalization as a significant strategy to engage customers. The Associate Director of Product Management for Personalization Platform and Services will lead a team that enables data, rules, and APIs that power our personalization experiences. Personalization Services works closely with the data enablement, experimentation and applied machine learning (AML) teams to incorporate intelligence into our capabilities.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota, or Atlanta, Georgia.

What you'll do


  • Craft and drive complex product(s) and experience vision across a matrixed organization independently

  • Proficiently lead long term vision strategically aligned to the organizational goals

  • Translate business needs into customer goals and features while demonstrating empathy for the customer, and steer discussions to how to build customer trust

  • Craft and drive the vision, strategy, and overall execution for a highly complex product line or multiple product lines

  • Deliver against core customer value propositions and Best Buy's strategic and financial goals

  • Reduce system constraints (resource, financial, technology) to build long-term customer engagement and brand love

  • Lead teams to innovate and transform by embracing new ways of working and find ways to push through adversity while encouraging the test/learn/iterate mindset

  • Analyze product performance through qualitative and quantitative analysis tools and processes

Basic qualifications

  • 4 years of Product Management experience leading teams with an in-depth understanding of software platforms and backend services, OR experience working with development, User experience, Strategy, or related

  • 3 years of experience with direct people management and team management

  • 2 years of relevant experience in strategy creation, customer-focused solutioning, cross-functional leadership, or related

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Marketing or related field OR equivalent experience

  • Track record of using experimentation results to improve product performance.

  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and their application in digital products.

  • Familiarity with APIs, data pipelines, and data processing

Preferred qualifications

  • 8 years of Product Management experience, OR experience working with development, user experience, strategy, or related

  • 4 years of experience with direct people management and team management

  • Knowledge of personalization algorithms and techniques.

  • Experimentation and A/B Testing:

    • Proficiency in designing and executing experiments to optimize personalization algorithms.

    • Understanding of statistical analysis and hypothesis testing.



  • Machine Learning (ML) Integration:

    • Experience working with ML engineers and data scientists to incorporate intelligence into personalization features.

    • Ability to balance ML complexity with practical implementation.
