Job Description:

Become a Deputy Fire Marshal with the Nebraska State Fire Marshal Office. Initiative, integrity, responsibility, and working well with others are essential qualities for success in this position. This position must be located in Sarpy or Douglas County. The primary focus is to investigate from the field and desk top investigations on all complaints/violations of the Nebraska One Call Act also known as the, "811 law." This position will help with the legal and administrative process as outlined in state law and internal procedures, represents the pipeline safety division and other duties as assigned.

Job Duties: Duties of this position include: Completing in-office investigations of violations to the Nebraska One Call Act, completing limited field investigations of violation to the Nebraska One Call Act, completion of required US DOT, pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) training program for damage prevention technician (located in Oklahoma City, OK) within three (3) years; Educating and training Operators and Excavators regarding applicable rules and initiatives coming from PHMSA and Nebraska One Call Act and Title 155. Complete assigned administrative tasks related to the Nebraska One Call Act process. All other duties as assigned by the Chief Deputy. Other duties within the scope of classification.



Requirements / Qualifications




MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS: Training or experience in fire service, fire science, building construction, code enforcement, regulation enforcement, engineering or architecture AND a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation. Some positions in this class may require law enforcement certification.



PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS: Knowledge of the Nebraska One Call Act.



OTHER: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation.


Regular and reliable attendance is required.
