Westminster Communities of Florida, a nationally recognized not for profit, church related organization, is seeking an experienced Director of Design. Our team members work with excellence and serve with heart. This position is responsible for project and technical design management of renovations and new projects working under minimum supervision. This role oversees the entire design project team, including out-of-house consultants on one or more medium to large sized projects. Projects are related to Senior Living environment and can include single family home and multi-family buildings, Skilled Nursing Facilities, recreational and dining venues and various community buildings.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Directs and supervises work of staff and outside consultants in preparation of plans, drawings, studies, models and other project tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly responsible for administration and design direction of capital project planning and design for projects ranging from $25,000 to $35M.
Ability to manage approximately 30 to 45 active projects, in various stages of development and completion.
Assist the VP of Design and Construction and the communities in the development and preparation of the yearly capital budgets.
Explore opportunities for value, efficiency and re-utilization of existing resources.
Arrange for design standards as needed / required for Independent, Residential Assisted Living and Health Centers (Skilled Nursing Facilities).
Supervise Design Department staff, which involves direct and indirect responsibilities for interviewing, selection, training, managing, motivating, performance appraisal, policies and procedures, to ensure achievement of the department’s goals.
Provide preliminary plans and schematic designs for in-house reviews and analysis. Provide preliminary budget figures and value engineering as necessary to bring projects within established budget goals.
Manage and supervise outside professional consultants.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with third party Architects, Engineers and Construction Firms as needed to maintain an excellent standard for value, work and efficiency.
Assist efforts to prepare, modify and/or obtain approvals for land development or redevelopments.
Assist efforts to prepare and obtain all permits and approvals for capital projects.
Assist in efforts to insure that all construction and renovation projects are on target, on budget, and on time.
Ability to work closely and well with authorities having jurisdiction such as: Building Departments, Planning Agencies, Florida State Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), and United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to accomplish goals and Low Income Housing Tax Credit Programs.
