Job Description:

The Energy Rebates Program Specialist plays a critical role in the execution of company-wide rebate projects. They support rebate and incentive applications for rebate programs in compliance with the DOE requirement.  Supports by conducting on-site inspections of residential homes and completes data entry, modeling, calculations, and reports for energy rebate projects by using and expanding their understanding of building HVAC, domestic hot water, process loads, lighting, and envelope systems.

  • Define project scopes and objectives, including review and approval of cost estimates.

  • Prepare project plans, including workflows, detailed schedules, procedures, and any other tools necessary in the development and implementation of day-to-day project tasks.

  • Anticipate and adjust project plans for the efficient execution of project tasks.

  • Develop clear, straightforward plans that lead their team members in the completion of project tasks.

  • Coordinate the flow of information from the contractors, the team and/or to the client regarding the project.

  • Coordinate with support areas in the benefit of project execution.

  • Ensure that project reporting tasks are completed and properly updated. Prepare comprehensive project status reports, as needed.

  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.

  • Update information on the project management development, tools, regulations, and client requests.

  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.

  • Oversee the performance of team members to follow up on open items and track issues.

  • Develop, execute, and manage the project timetable and completion schedule by prioritizing tasks, accounting for anticipated and unanticipated delays, and makes recommendations to resolve delay issues.

  • Experience in scheduling, ordering, quality control, and production of all phases of project.

    Physical demands



    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

     10% to 25%


    Required education and experience



    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, business, or economics, or other equivalent experience 

    • 3+ years working with energy rebates programs 

    • Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability concepts, rebate/incentive programs, clean energy, sustainability, carbon emissions, building energy use and public policy initiatives 

    • Demonstrated passion for data and energy efficiency 

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office  

    • Proven ability to work independently and within in a team environment, and to proactively identify problems and solutions. 


    Preferred skills



    • Experience with management of federal funds.

    • Experience within the energy sector

    • Experience with project implementation and closeout

    • Experience with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.

    • Proficiency in the basic MS Office tools including Excel, Project, Power Point as well as Visio & Smartsheet. 

    • Excellent communication and organizational skills

    • Ability to work within budgets and to deadlines

    • English and Spanish fluency
