POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pricing Analyst will work within the Pricing Department to analyze pricing trends, patterns, opportunities, risks, and strategies. The Analyst will consolidate findings into proposals and recommendations that will improve KNG’s price position and profitability aligned with KNG’s pricing strategy. Focus will be on KNG’s branded products and distribution channels, but will also include custom products, toll mill business, commodities, and other product and customer types.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pricing Responsibilities
Maintenance, administration, and future direction for internal competitive pricing system
Create, maintain, and determine future direction of competitive and KNG pricing trends, opportunities and threats
Report and monitor pricing activity to assure strategic objectives are met
Support multi-channel pricing strategies with analysis and recommendations to validate or evolve strategies
Define rules and parameters for pricing decisions in relation to commodity markets, competitive price changes, margin expectations and more
Provide analysis and support for periodic price maintenance. This includes familiarization and working with legacy price systems, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems post ERP implementation.
Create dashboards, scorecards and reports to monitor price strategy objectives are met and pricing initiatives are implemented
Provide fact-based, data-driven analysis in support of decision-making processes
Provide financial analysis (including gross profit, payback and what if scenarios) of new business opportunities and pricing projects/programs
Develop and maintain forecasting and modeling scenarios to plan and forecast financial results
Marketing Responsibilities
Support Product Managers in product line specific research, including market share, industry trends, SKU rationalization analysis, product line portfolio reporting, management and more
Support V.P., Marketing with ad hoc reporting, trending, dashboard creation and management
Develop standards for and maintain market share reporting by business unit
Assist in the development and maintenance of data standards for critical data sources e.g. products, price, and customers
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Finance, Economics with Ag Business, or Applied Mathematics
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
5 - 7 years as a data miner, data analyst or marketing or pricing analyst
Demonstrated experience in data analysis and interpretation
Strong business acumen with exceptional knowledge of “retail” math.
Expert in Excel
Knowledge of data modeling/architecture
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills
Strong financial understanding; versed in financial analysis and modeling
Ability to thrive in high pressure, fast paced environment
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Experience with Tableau and other business intelligence, analytical software a plus
Experience in Zilliant Pricing Manager Software a major plus
Familiar with commodity grain/ingredient markets and feed markets preferred
OTHER:
The Pricing Analyst will work cross-functionally with multiple departments (Nutrition, Procurement, Sales, and Manufacturing) to analyze costs, margins, and markets fully and accurately in preparing recommendations The Pricing Analysis will also learn and support KNG pricing system maintenance and routine pricing processes in support of the overall pricing process.
