The Sports and Fitness programs at the Y offer a wide variety of activities that center around helping kids of all ages and abilities keep their mind and body active and grow a love for play and recreation.
The Youth Sports Coordinator isresponsible for creating a safe, friendly, and encouraging atmosphere for participants and volunteers through supervising assigned staff and by developing and managing high-quality sports programs.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the supervisor to ensure department operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices. Supervise Youth Sports referees, instructors, and site leads, including hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, coaching, scheduling, and on-going development. Engage participants and volunteers to deepen their relationships in the Y cause. Coordinate team and game specifics and communicate with participants and volunteers. Assist in training and scheduling of contracted sports officials and volunteer coaches Actively participates in team meetings and committees as assigned. Continually focus on the enhancement and improvement of Youth Sports programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in recreation or sports management, or equivalent experience. Minimum six months experience in related field. Must be able to meet YMCA transportation requirements.
Schedule:
A typical work week will be Monday through Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm with hours being flexed for weekday and Saturday games during league times.
