Financial Manager

Thompson Facilities Services requires a Financial Manager, responsible for the account-wide financial operations of the company at Howard University, under direct collaboration with the Finance Director.


 


Essential Functions

  • Prepare budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.

  • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.

  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.

  • Ensure monthly financial packages are prepared promptly to meet pre-established internal and external client-driven deadlines.

  • Execute procurement requests by following the established guidelines, reviewing all requests, and accurately recording them on the required forms along with any necessary documentation.

  • Ensure, in coordination with the Warehouse staff, efficient management of receipts, storage, and materials issues inclusive of economics, security, and safety.

  • Build financial models, conduct high-quality business, market, and competitor analysis, and help identify and assess existing and new initiatives.

  • Ensure appropriate methods are in place to track key strategy-related metrics and assist with forecasting and any other executive reporting and/or presentations, as required.

  • Analyze operational requirements and assist the leadership team with strategy identification, communication, and execution; influences operational direction and recommendations.

  • Support the development of essential communications and calculation of Key Performance Indicators to ensure initiatives are tracked and results communicated. Assist in the preparation of communications to leadership.

  • Provide financial modeling for medium to long-term strategic planning, business projects, and growth activity.

  • Support accounting leadership meetings to report on client, company, and staff-related issues.

  • Assist personnel with accounting-related software activities.

  • Ensure business continuity protocols are in place to safeguard information and business processes.

  • Participate in and contribute to business development activities.

  • Develop analyses, projections, reports, and presentations necessary to support the business needs.

  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.


 


Experience, Requirements, and Certifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or equivalent education.

  • Two years of experience in similar positions desired.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties and responsibilities.

  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills, with the ability to ask appropriate questions to resolve difficult/stressful situations.

  • Be able to quickly adapt to change and be comfortable in a structured environment.
