YMCA Certified Personal Trainers are responsible for managing and developing health and well-being programs for individual clients or small groups.
Responsibilities:
Conducts and organizes personal training sessions for individuals or groups.
Builds specific programs for individuals or groups based on the intake interview and ongoing evaluation.
Actively listens to members, makes suggestions, and follows up to help support members' in reaching their fitness goals.
Provides basic information about stretching, and other wellness topics within their scope of practice, or refers to professional support as appropriate.
Provide consultations in person, over the phone and via e-mail.
Engage members to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.
Monitor and ensure safety of participants, staff and volunteers in the personal or group training sessions.
Records enrollment as requested.
Actively works to increase personal and group training participation.
Stay informed of all program offerings, class scheduling, membership changes, policies, etc. and cross promote when appropriate.
Connects members with other members with similar wants, needs, and interests to create small communities inside and outside of the Y.
Qualifications:
Personal Trainer certification through NASM, NSCA, ACE, NFPT, NETA, or ACSM is required.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to influence others in a positive manner, willingness to participate in monthly promotional activities and create a safe, inclusive environment.
Must be able to deliver organized training plans for each individual or group consisting of both teens and adults. Must have current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 45 days of hire.
Must have the ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight. Position will require bending, leaning, kneeling, walking.
Schedule:
Varied based on client demand & availability. Approximately 5-10 hours per week.
