DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE Maintenance Manager for Lumberton, MS
ESSENTIAL POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
Provide leadership for the Maintenance Department and oversee the maintenance business process.
Participate in a continuous process improvement culture
Collaborate with others to identify and formulate alternative solutions
Navigate changes, delays, or unexpected events in the work environment

Solve daily operational problems and interpret instructions

Develop, communicate, and implement safety, environmental and quality goals, and business objectives
Diagnose causes of malfunctions
Continuously improve equipment reliability through predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and elimination of worst actors
Oversee the assessment and repair of problems as they arise, plan and coordinate mill maintenance
Delegate responsibilities and develop and organize the department and its team members.
Manage the activities of assigned personnel to ensure maintenance excellence is achieved and maintained so that all equipment is operating at cost-effective, peak performance
Plan effective use of available resources using the six-step work process and assist in the development of process, design and operational improvements to meet objectives of the mill.
Manage and assist in developing department budget, payroll planning, contract labor, and proper tooling procurement
Participate in the planning and implementation of all capital projects in the mill
Oversee installation, repair and maintenance of plant machinery and equipment and coordination of outside contractors, with primary focus on safe and continuous operation of all equipment and facilities
Review vendor quotes with Purchasing and assure all spare parts are purchased with new equipment
Follow-up with equipment manufacturers for performance guarantees
Maintain a safe facility and a work climate conducive to safe working practices.
Support the behavioral safety program and work together with Safety Coordinator and IFG Safety Committee
Ensure maintenance activities are compliant with environmental regulations and other state and federal laws and regulations
Ensure that safety requirements are met in the planning and implementation process for capital projects
Oversee and document the predictive and preventative maintenance efforts of the mill
Assist in weekly meeting with maintenance and operations to achieve maximum capabilities of the mill
Analyze production operators concerns with equipment issues
Monitor teams’ performance, schedule PM audit on each machine center and assure that the root cause board and process flow chart is being used
Recommend, support, and adhere to LEAN/Six Sigma principals including 6S, Kaizen, and DMAIC projects
EDUCATION & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. (or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering (or similar discipline) from an accredited College or University
3+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity within a Manufacturing Maintenance Department
Strong business acumen with working experience leading large capital projects
Demonstrated technical or maintenance supervisory experience with leadership experience within a mill or major capital project
Proficient computer skills including maintenance management system, MS Office Suite
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. and ability to multitask
Demonstrated expertise with solving problems related to people, process, and equipment are essential, as is the ability to lead change
Demonstrated ability to manage/implement large scale projects
Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safety procedures
Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and maintenance business processes
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement. Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs. Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, vibrations, and airborne particles (sawdust).
