JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Orthodontic Records & Sterilization Assistant provides support to the office and is focused on new patient registration and instrument sterilization. The role will fluctuate between records, sterilization and assembling stints and models as needed.
This support is crucial to the delivery of the Company's mission of helping children achieve a lifetime of great oral health.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
New Patient:
Assists the Treatment Coordinator with new patients through their records appointment/initial visit.
Reviews the patient's chart and medical history to prepare for the appointment.
Takes precise and accurate diagnostic records.
Accurately charts and documents all notes pertaining to the patient during the exam and treatment set forth by the Company guidelines.
Sterilization and Clinic:
Ensures proper cleaning and sterilization of all operatory equipment, instruments, chairs, and work stations based on OSHA regulations and the Company standards.
Runs the sterilization area of the clinic to ensure all instruments are properly sterilized and are available for continued orthodontic treatment and completes the Steri-Strip test monthly.
Monitors clinic and prepares trays ahead if possible.
Cleans chairside trays and prepares for the basic set up of instruments.
Assists Orthodontic Assistants as requested.
Helps maintain overall cleanliness of the office.
Assists the Orthodontist as needed.
Laboratory and Administrative:
Pours up impressions as needed.
Cleans and disinfects impression trays.
Trims study models and assembles stints as requested.
Helps maintain a clean work area.
Attend and participate in all office meetings, continuing education events and daily huddles.
Complies with all of the laws and regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, etc.
Follows all administrative procedures and policies to ensure consistent standards.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of a high school degree or equivalent is required.
Bilingual preferred.
Experience working in a professional, medical, or dental environment with direct customer service is a plus.
Certifications vary by state: Radiology, Certified Orthodontic Assistant, Expanded Duties, etc.

Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
Effective communication skills with all levels of employees and public.
Excellent organizational skills; strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and perform job duties in a timely manner.
Computer skills and ability to learn new programs as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Walking, sitting, standing for extended periods of time
Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds and be able to twist, turn, bend and stoop
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Dental office environment
Travels between the assigned offices
Work hours vary based on the specific office schedule and/or business needs
