Trails Equipment Operator

The Trails Equipment Operator (TEO) is a full-time, hourly position responsible for all trail machinery operations on the trail units construction projects. The TEOs primary responsibility is to safely cut/fill the new trail corridor by removing duff, and filling or removing excess soils while also back sloping the side grades and ensuring proper drainage as needed. Thus, making sure that enough machine work happens on a daily basis to supply a days work for the hand finishing crew. This role assists the Trails Project Manager and Trails Crew Leader in keeping trail crews running as efficiently and safely as possible while ensuring the overall quality of each project.
Travel can be frequent, typically requiring employees to be on the road five days per week. We are seeking an individual that demonstrates passion for trail building and the outdoors, and that is motivated to continue trail building education through conferences, reading, and certifications. For job sites over one hour from home, Timberline will provide per diem. Depending on the job and arrangement, lodging may range from staying in tents, RV, a house, etc. Evening and weekend travel to home is a realistic option for the Crewmember. The current trail projects have the potential for you to remain as a full or part time employee with Timberline in the Colorado Springs area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operation and daily inspections (Fleetio DVIR) of equipment associated with trail jobs, including trail dozers and mini excavatorsMaintains proper correspondence with project partners throughout all stages of the jobAbility to assess trail corridors both existing and future in the field on varied terrain and in varied climatic conditionsThe TEO may also assist the TPM with design & layout of trails on larger projects while implementing smaller project designs and reroutes with crewsTrail hand work may be required and encouraged to help motivate trail crewsPerforms other functions as assigned
