JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with overall accounting functions/financial operations, account reconciliations, supporting general A/P and A/R, maintaining bookkeeping and accounting records. Provides backup/assistance for payroll, accounts payable, and other tasks and projects as assigned. The Staff Accountant should possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares and maintains financial documents such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Assists with the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Analyzes financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborates with other departments to gather financial information and support decision-making.
Banking and cash management responsibilities.
Stays updated on accounting standards, regulations, and best practices.
Supports accounts payable and payroll processing to ensure accuracy.
Maintains bookkeeping and accounting records.
Back-up to accounts payable and payroll functions as needed
Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
EXPERIENCE
One year of experience required, in a non-profit preferred.
Understanding of accounting concepts and recording accounting transactions.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
Experience in performing account reconciliations, month-end close process, and preparation of financial reports.
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
Commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Strong planning, organizational, and follow-up skills.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
