The Senior Director of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Technology & Strategy, will play a critical role in leading the development, implementation, and optimization of WMS technology solutions within our organization. You will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of WMS initiatives, driving innovation, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to deliver impactful solutions that enhance operational efficiency and drive business growth.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and communicate the strategic vision for WMS technology, outlining goals, objectives, and key initiatives.
Collaborate with executive leadership to align WMS strategies with overall business objectives and priorities.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation in WMS solutions.
Technology Development and Implementation:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of WMS technology solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and industry standards.
Drive the evaluation, selection, and integration of WMS software and tools, considering factors such as scalability, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.
Partner with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and logistics, to define system requirements, develop project plans, and manage implementation timelines.
Operational Excellence:
Optimize warehouse processes and workflows through the effective use of WMS technology, driving improvements in productivity, accuracy, and cost efficiency.
Monitor system performance and functionality, identifying opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
Establish and maintain KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of WMS solutions and drive continuous improvement efforts.
Team Leadership and Development:
Build and lead a high-performing team of WMS professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the WMS team, promoting cross-functional partnerships and knowledge sharing.
Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide coaching and feedback to support individual and team growth.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including operations, logistics, IT, and executive leadership, to understand their needs and priorities.
Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on WMS technology, providing guidance and recommendations to support decision-making and drive business outcomes.
Represent the organization externally as needed, participating in industry events, conferences, and forums to share insights and best practices.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Work Experience
Proven experience (7 yrs.) in a leadership role overseeing WMS technology strategy, development, and implementation, preferably in a large-scale distribution or logistics environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Deep understanding of warehouse operations, processes, and best practices, with expertise in WMS software systems and technologies.
Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and drive results.
