Why We Need You:

PEMCO has a dynamic and challenging opportunity for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our community. In this role, you will be responsible for creating meaningful business guidance from data analytics by collecting and analyzing internal and external data. This position ensures the necessary department data needs are met through various data sources and independently creates analyses and recommendations strongly guided by business context.

What You’ll Be Doing:


  • Participate in work sessions to help develop functional business requirements and manage changes for large complex projects.

  • Provide data collection and analysis support to cross-functional teams in the execution of projects and initiatives, including projects with increasing complexity.

  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership by investing time in the growth of analysts and other colleagues.

  • Retrieve, prepare, model, and analyze department data including using Tableau and a variety of technology tools, systems, and analytics approaches; demonstrate curiosity around data findings, anomalies and opportunities beyond what is requested.

  • Work directly with the corporate Information Management team to ensure that the right data warehouse data resources are available to meet the department's analytics needs.

  • Participate in discussions with department leadership and business subject matter experts to discover and address analytics needs.

  • Monitor the department's data and meta data with an understanding of data sources, validation techniques, metrics and standard definitions, and the interaction of data with other departments, corporate finances, and budgeting.

  • Guide and assist in verifying accuracy and completeness of data, data relationships, process mapping, and definitions for the department.

  • Design, develop, and maintain department metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards self-service analytics/BI solutions and the data source and pipelines that back them using tools such as SQL and Tableau; report results of analyses to department leadership; provide insights and/or recommendations to improve operational and financial effectiveness and workforce efficiency and present in a clear and concise manner to senior leaders.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with department-level software systems; provide end user training and support including educating on self-service data exploration capabilities.

  • Create precise, interpretive, and repeatable analyses strongly guided by business context.

What You'll Bring:


  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience (Computer science, mathematics, or related field)

  • 2 years of experience in using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server is required

  • 6 years of experience in a business analysis role with increasing levels of responsibility is required

  • Tableau Certified Professional preferred

  • Presenter: Organizes data visually and speaks clearly and persuasively in group presentations and meetings with multiple peer groups and senior management is required


  • Precision: Is detail orientated and has a strong desire for accuracy and thoroughness is required


  • Confidentiality: A high degree of integrity and the ability to exercise discretion in confidential situations is required


  • Job specific: Advanced proficiency in Tableau dashboards using data visualization best practices and advanced Tableau functions such as table calculations, LOD calculations, mapping etc.  is required


  • Communicator: The ability to communicate clearly and informatively, verbally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and the community in both technical and non-technical professional language is required


  • MS Office: Skilled proficiency in MS Visio is required


  • MS Office: Skilled proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook is required


  • Job specific: Demonstrate advanced proficiency in SQL skills, primarily on the MS SQL Server platform is required


  • Analytical and data-driven: Thinks analytically; a structured thinker who can put complex ideas into clear frameworks; uses data to conduct root cause analysis and develops high quality, consumable, and consistent metrics that drive strategic objectives and priorities is required

Compensation:

The pay range for this role is shown below. Compensation decisions are determined based on an individual’s qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.


  • Greater Seattle area target pay range: $121,808-$148,876.  The full pay range is $101,506-$169,177.

  • Outside greater Seattle area target pay range: $107,498-$131,386.  The full pay range is $89,581-$149,302.

Greater Seattle Area is defined as working within approximately 100 miles of Seattle.

Outside Greater Seattle is defined as working approximately 100 miles or more from Seattle.

Benefits:

Regular part-time PEMCO employees working at least 24 hours per week and regular full-time PEMCO employees are eligible to elect coverage under medical, dental, and vision plans for themselves and their eligible family members with generous employer premium cost shares. In addition, as a benefits-eligible employee, you are:


  • covered by employer-paid basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance policies as well as long- and short-term disability benefit coverages.

  • eligible to participate in PEMCO’s 401(k) plan which includes a generous employer match (2 for 1 on the first 6% employee pre-tax and/or Roth deferral, up to federal maximums). 

PEMCO provides the following paid leave programs for benefits-eligible employees in their first year of PEMCO employment:


  • Vacation accrues at a rate of 10 days for new hires, and increases based on a schedule to a maximum annual accrual of 25 days based on tenure.

  • Granted four (4) personal days immediately upon hire.

  • Paid holidays for the eight (8) holidays observed by PEMCO throughout the calendar year.

  • Granted up to ten (10) days of sick leave immediately upon hire (pro-rated based on hire date and full-time/part-time status), which is approximately 28 hours more per year than the Washington state-required accrual.

  • In addition, PEMCO provides paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, and employee volunteering in the community.
