Overview


OSS is looking to hire qualified field support technician/documentation specialist who will be required to be familiar with equipment install and repair procedures; instruct customers in equipment operation per documentation; provide technical assistance; and provide quality assurance feedback to integration staff if requested.


The Documentation/Field Support Technician will be familiar with site and equipment inspections in order to document preventative and corrective maintenance as well as produce technical training documents for customer or company personnel, informal on-the-job training for other field service staff members and customers, and over-the-shoulder/refresher training to users in the field as required.


They will also be familiar with common procedures for diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hardware and systems failures. The employee must be prepared to professionally interface with customers, military personnel, government employees, external consultants/experts, and all levels of employees across the company, including executive management.


The DOCUMENTATION/FIELD SUPPORT TECHNICIAN will:





    • Primarily document operations procedures, safety notices, project annexes, installation of subcomponents and repairs.

    • Be familiar with properly maintaining all tools and equipment used.

    • Deliver guidance for design development and manufacturability to design and engineering team if requested.

    • Potential for testing and support of customers on location at Ranges, Integration Sites, and/or vendor/subcontractor production facilities.

    • Potential to assist with final acceptance testing for preparation for delivery.

    • Potentially, teach customers how to use the equipment properly and ensure that customers are adequately trained to follow manufacturer’s procedures and instructions as documented in order to keep production equipment operational.

    • Potential for Fabrication, Production, and Logistics Support for the preparation of units for delivery.

REQUIRED:





    • Training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school or military technical school and 6 years of field service activity, 4 of which should normally have been within a directly applicable industry.

    • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    • Strong customer service skills.

    • Problem-solving skills.

    • Time-management skills to handle appointments efficiently and stay on schedule.

    • Attention to detail to spot issues and complete accurate reports about the repairs.

    • Organizational skills to keep tools and paperwork organized while in the field.

    • Strong technical writing background and familiarity with military operations manual’s objectives, formatting, and style.

    • Strong interpersonal skills

    • Possesses motivation, leadership, mentoring and facilitating skills.

    • Strong knowledge of process improvement methods and tools.
