Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage Course Delivery through the LMS, creating and populating course templates for every academic period.
  • Assist faculty with technology-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online courses.
  • Provide training and support for faculty and users of video conferencing and uses of the Internet for instruction, including course management systems to improve the utilization of blended learning on campus.
  • Applying knowledge of best practices of technology in education to improve teaching and learning across the curriculum.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to faculty, staff, and users involved in online and blended learning.
  • Actively work with all departments/units within the Division of Information Technology to support applications and services shared with these departments/units.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort and initiative to improve operations, secure the LMS system, optimize services, and maintain availability.
  • Provide quality customer service and technical support to the campus community.
  • Maintain and develop procedures and documentation for all business processes related to instructional technologies and online course design.
  • Oversee accessibility technology (Blackboard Ally) as applied to online, hybrid, and web-supported courses.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and graphic form.
  • Assists the Director of Academic Computing in evaluating performance and determining the effectiveness of instructional technologies to support teaching and learning.
  • Oversee accessibility technology (Blackboard Ally) as applied to online, hybrid, and web-supported courses.
  • Support LMS Migration and Instructional Technology Integration.
  • Support Instructional Design and Technological pedagogical processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and graphic form.
  • Keeping up to date on web technologies for continued enhancement and security of instructional technology.
  • The incumbent performs other related duties assigned by the Director of Academic Computing. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs.

Minimum Qualifications

These are the job duties for required of the position

Education Master or Graduate Certification in Instructional Technology, Instructional Systems, or advanced degree in Information Technology preferred.
Experience
  • Three-years of experience in technology within a college or training environment in industry or government preferred.
  • Experience in web design and development, including the development of HTML documents with embedded graphics, forms, audio, video, and scripted objects.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Blackboard Learning Management System administrator skills; preferred with certification of administrator training for Course Delivery and Content Management.
  • Experience in learning technologies and instructional design of online or hybrid courses is essential.
  • Experience in early alert administration and functional use
  • Experience in training faculty on instructional technology tools.
  • Experience with early alert or student-tracking systems for decision-making.
  • Strong familiarity with development tools such as web design, video streaming, and quiz creation tools.
  • Having worked as an instructional technologist in a college environment is an asset.
  • Capability for designing training web pages and addressing the technology needs of faculty, students, and staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations, computer programming, and customer service skills.
  • Proven abilities to work with minimum supervision and to work under pressure.
  • Skill for operating and configuring computer applications and devices required by the job.

Conditions of Employment
  • The employee works most of the time in interaction with externally hosted systems and internally provided customer services; must be available to cover an evening schedule if needed.
  • An annual plan of training activities for faculty, staff, and students is expected in collaboration with the Director of Academic Computing.
  • The Employee must be available anytime for communication with systems or application providers to solve issues related to continuity of service.

This is a grant-funded position.
