Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Vice President for Administration and Finance, the Executive Director for Business and Auxiliary Services will provide strategic planning, oversight, and delivery of high quality auxiliary support services to the faculty, staff and student population of the University. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops overall business strategies for the self-sustaining, revenue-generating auxiliary enterprises and activities that ensure their fiscal stability.
  • Manages multiple core departments to include the University Bookstore, Food Services Campus Card Program (Bulldog Card), Student Center, Risk Management, Ticket Events, Vendor Services (Licensing), Contractual Services (Pouring Rights, Snack Vending and Laundry Services), Campus-Wide ATM oversight, and ensure that quality services are being rendered.
  • Provide briefings to the Cabinet/Sub-Cabinet, student organization, and other campus faculty and staff organizations as needed
  • Assure contractor compliance through document review, physical inspection, and customer interactions with written follow-up reports.
  • Support and encourage student businesses on campus through direct counsel and guidance, as well as, coordination with the Entrepreneurship Academy.
  • Responsible for the full Athletics Concessions including the revenue generated from ticket sales for games.
  • Plans services evaluation, process improvement, performance indicators and special projects.
  • Conducts management studies and research that benefit the overall performance of the Department.
  • Participates in the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) and other associations.
  • Oversee RFP/Invitation for bids, analysis and selection process for outsourced areas, negotiates contracts; reviews and provides vendors reports on existing contracts.
  • Establishes and implements short-and-long range goals and objectives for each operating unit.
  • Ensures that units are in constant communication with the constituencies they serve, thereby providing superior service as well as ensuring constant communication between units as required.
  • Seeks opportunities for future initiatives and revenue development consistent with University needs.
  • Trains and evaluates personnel.
  • Ensures compliance with existing Board Policy and State Laws.
  • Plans and implements staffing plans for business operation.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to the Directors of the business operations reporting to this position.
Minimum Qualifications

Education Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting or related field preferred.
Experience Ten (10) year record of progressive leadership in a complex organization, preferably higher education.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities • Technical knowledge of accounting software.• Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to prepare written documents that are clear, concise and grammatically correct.• Ability to lead by example and has a commitment to furthering the mission of the Bowie State University.
