Job Description:

Responsible for leading and coordinating printability and machinability support efforts by being the subject matter expert to both internal and external customers. Work with Team Leaders to develop future QAP strategies and annual business goals. Utilize a strategic mindset to seek out process improvement opportunities within the broader Creative Team and initiate efforts to implement enhancements.  Embrace a streamlined development of artwork dielines through a thorough understanding of packaging engineering specifications and printer capabilities, ensuring accurate art placement that conforms with operational requirements. Investigate and implement new innovative print technologies that offer aesthetic enhancements, quality improvements or cost advantages.  Will demonstrate self-direction and ambition through making decisions that drive value, eliminate waste, and improve speed while positively representing both the QAP and greater Packaging Development Team throughout the organization.

What you'll do:


  • Act as lead QAP resource for meetings and projects, providing confident feedback and insights when needed.


  • Assist leadership in setting strategic vision and goals for the QAP team. 


  • Manage wide variety of art projects to ensure conformance with printability and machinability requirements.


  • Lead initiatives and discussions in artwork, printability or print quality with internal and external customers.


  • Hold customer art agencies accountable for compliance with supplier capabilities. 


  • Challenge print suppliers on current process gaps to achieve best-in-class results through improved processes and technologies.


  • Continuously investigate new supplier and industry print capabilities to maintain high level of print expertise.


  • Utilize a strategic mindset to identify opportunity areas in the value chain and develop appropriate solutions.   


  • Initiate and lead large process improvement projects both within and outside the QAP Team. 


  • Execute workflow optimization to increase process efficiency and decrease artwork errors. 


  • Utilize internal resources and time management skills to manage projects and work independently to meet or exceed customer deadlines (which are often tight).


  • Attend press-side checks as needed to support product launches and ensure designs are printed properly. 


  • Continuously train and mentor team members in QAP Technician roles.   


Together with the leadership team, ensures compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, in addition to customer requirements. Interprets and communicates customer requirements to plant production and/or support groups. Establishes and Audits PCPs, CCPs and Standard Operating Procedures to define and monitor processes, to ensure customer requirements are met. Reviews incidents during which the procedures are not met, and determines appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures.

What you need to succeed:


  • Bachelors in Packaging, graphic arts/design or related field

  • 6+ years with Bachelors, 10+ years with Associates in graphic arts/design, prepress or printing

  • Must be fully competent in the Adobe Creative Suite with focus on Illustrator and Acrobat.

  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).

  • Has an in-depth knowledge of a variety of printing processes and prepress/separating for those processes.

  • Ability to appropriately identify wide range of colors and check for accuracy. 

  • Has a demonstrated ability to explain the complex world of prepress and printing so that key stakeholders can understand and make informed decisions if necessary.

  • Must have high attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy.

  • Ability to utilize expertise and experiences to make decisions with limited direction from others.

  • Is proactive and ambitious in continuous improvement.

  • Leverages technical expertise to deliver best-in-class results from print suppliers.

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with members of the SFI organization, our customers, our suppliers, and external art agencies.

  • Must be self-directed and possess the ability to complete tasks with limited direction.

  • Must be able to work independently and within a greater team. 

  • Strong communication skills and exceptional customer service skills.

  • Maintain a positive attitude and exude high-energy in a fast paced, exciting team environment.
