POSITION OVERVIEW


The Contract Management Manager reports to the Contract Management Director and is responsible for monitoring/reporting contract administration and compliance policies, processes, and procedures in support of commercial operations, including counterparty, contract, and document management to ensure master data and contracts/trades/confirmations are properly prepared, reviewed, recorded, and reported.  In addition, the Contract Management Manager will serve as a resource to commercial teams and other business functions as needed. 


 


KNOWLEDGE


Ideal candidate possesses expert knowledge of contract administration principles, industry practices, regulations and policies, energy Front/Middle/Back Office best practices and internal controls working with physical Natural Gas, LNG, Power, related transportation & storage, and financial derivative products.


 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Maintain timely, accurate contract files and supporting documentation related to Customer relationships and contractual agreements.

  • Coordinate with the commercial and internal teams to track contractual obligations and trigger events, draft notices and other standard form documents as well as respond to Customer inquiries/paper.

  • Assist in the contract review and coordination of approvals for enabling agreements.

  • Work directly with potential counterparties in negotiating agreements.

  • Manage Master Data/Document Management/trade reconciliation/compliance & reporting/special projects.

  • Liaison with external Customers gathering/distributing documents in support of master reference data, trade support/reconciliation and various internal team requests.

  • Ensure there is continual focus on control throughout the trade process to ensure the accuracy of the books and records through daily monitoring of deals and amendments to ensure trades are booked properly, confirmed as necessary and supported by underlying documentation.

  • Coordination/communication of contract/deal activity across commercial and internal teams.

  • Continually drive for more efficient systems and processes by identifying improvements/assisting in the design, testing and maintenance of new processes and controls.

  • Negotiate with outside vendors on subscriptions and term options to meet business needs.

  • Manage the budget process for subscriptions and report results to senior management.

  • Maintain relationships with partners across all levels of the organization including Commercial, Accounting, Legal and Senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)


Education and CertificationsBachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.


 


Experience:  Minimum of ten (10) years of applicable experience, preferably in the energy industry. Less may be considered with significant knowledge of Natural Gas, LNG, and Power contracts/marketing activities, including purchase/sales, transportation, storage, and financial transactions. 


 


Skills



  • Familiarity with Natural Gas, LNG, and Power contractual terms/agreements; capable of interpreting and understanding contractual language and relationships between various agreements.

  • Preferred experience with ION Openlink.

  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, SharePoint/Documentum, and Adobe Acrobat Pro; ability to learn and acquire expertise in new software and applications as required.

  • Demonstrate an exceptional standard of quality: strong leadership, teamwork, initiative, attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, self-motivated, highly organized, ability to manage self and others across multiple deadlines and changing priorities.

  • Hands-on and participative team member who can quickly adapt, identify problems, and engage with others towards resolution.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Proactive and enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment: ability to work under pressure, while maintaining efficiency and composure; ability to work successfully in an open floor plan environment.

  • Confidence and ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization.

  • Dependable and trustworthy with positive attitude.

  • Experience managing a team preferable.

  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
