Position Title: Instructor - TRiO Upward Bound (Temporary, Part-Time)



Department: Student Services - East Campus



Rate of Pay: $25.49/hour

Position Summary:



The Pima Community College Upward Bound Program is currently accepting applications for temporary instructors. The Upward Bound Program provides assistance in the areas of academic support and enrichment, ACT preparatory, career exploration, and post-secondary information to identified students. The primary purpose of the federally funded program is to prepare students in grades 9-12 to attend and graduate from college.


The students attend academic classes specifically designed for them during the academic year and during our summer component as well.



Upward Bound is seeking to staff the following classes:



  • Math (All levels)

  • Foreign Languages

  • Social Sciences

  • Visual/Digital Art


The workshop sessions will be during the Summer from 8:30am to 1:50pm.




The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working weekends.




Continued employment in the position is contingent upon continued funding through designated external sources.




Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for teaching a diverse population of high school students in various non-credit enrichment classes.

  • Prepare instructional materials, lesson plans, and classroom presentations.

  • Develop, review, and revise curriculum.

  • Assess, evaluate, and document students' skills and progress.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.




Job Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area and

  • Two years of related instructing experience


or



  • Candidates who possess similar minimum objective qualifications should describe in detail the education and work experience you regard as establishing the equivalency.


Preferred:



  • Extensive knowledge of standardized tests

  • Communicate and cooperate with students, coworkers, and the general public
